On Saturday a friend of mine and I took a class through Chimpsy Austin. The class was two hours, the first hour was a photography lesson and the second was a walking field trip around the East 6th street. During the class, the instructor taught us how to take our camera off automatic and begin using the ISO and F stop features.
This was really helpful to me because I haven't taken the time to learn to use my camera on a manual setting. I've stayed in auto mode every time I've taken pictures. Since I'm a visual learner, having someone show you and then practicing right away really helped me out.
The field trip portion was a lot of fun. There were many vibrant colors and interesting things to take pictures of. After the class, Chelsea and I walked around a little more and took some extra photos. Here are the ones that I liked!

My Favorite Subject- Brooklyn Alexus
Since she was the main reason I finally decided to get my new camera and really get into taking pictures, I figured Brooklyn deserved her own post. These are just a few random shots that I've taken of her between December 2010 and May 2011.
My First Attempt at Portraits- Kylee and Crystal
I received my camera in December and couldn't wait for spring so that I could go out and take some outdoor photos. My youngest sister, Kylee, and her friend Crystal were all too happy to be my guinea pigs. The weather decided to not cooperate with us and was overcast and cloudy, so I worked with what I got. Here are a few pictures I took out at Old Settlers Park.
